Omar Amraoui
Driver & Guide
Born in the picturesque village of Tafraout, Omar’s heart has always belonged to the vast, golden landscapes of Merzouga. While many from his region leave school early, Omar’s thirst for knowledge led him to complete high school in Rissani and earn a degree in Physics from the University of Meknes. However, his true calling wasn’t in laboratories but on the open roads of Morocco, sharing the beauty and culture of his homeland.

In 2018, Omar joined Deep Morocco Tours, bringing his passion, deep-rooted knowledge, and lively personality to every journey. Our clients consistently praise his infectious enthusiasm, sharp wit, and profound understanding of Morocco’s rich heritage. For Omar, guiding is more than a job—it’s a mission to craft unforgettable experiences, ensuring every traveler leaves with a heart full of stories and memories of an authentic Moroccan adventure.

Traveler help & answers

If you are a citizen of the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Japan or European Union, you will not need a visa for visits of up to 90 days. For other nationalities, please check with the Moroccan Embassy. Please remember that your passport must have a minimum of 6 months validity from your return date.

Yes, Morocco is a very safe destination to visit. It is the embodiment of one of the safest countries in the world. The tourism industry in Morocco is growing at an incredible rate, and as a result, the government keeps enhancing and upgrading the level of security each year. However, like most countries, Morocco has its share of petty crime such as scams and pickpockets. Moroccan people are known for their hospitality and they will make you feel very welcome and safe at all times.

Morocco is safe for female visitors. But it is important to be aware of cultural norms. There is no dress code for Morocco. In fact, many women in the cities dress just like they do in the west, so you can wear whatever makes you comfortable. Morocco is very tolerant, and you are not expected to act or look like a Moroccan. However, in rural areas and villages, we recommend dressing conservatively to avoid any unwanted attention.

Although not required, you should obtain the right travel insurance before leaving your country of origin. We recommend a comprehensive travel protection programme that covers you for issues such as unexpected events that could cause you to cancel or interrupt your vacation, unexpected delays, medical assistance, loss of or damage to baggage.

There are no compulsory vaccinations that you should be aware of, but we suggest you check with your local health centre to ensure that your vaccinations are up to date, and seek advice on any vaccinations they would recommend specifically for Morocco.

It is generally harmless for locals, but since you come from another country, we highly recommend you opt for bottled water, as you don’t know how your body might react to the different bacteria found in the local tap water.

Deep Morocco Tours creates tailor made holidays. We focus on Riad and Kasbah style accommodation, which we personally select. This adds value to your overall experience. It is not an issue if you want to select your own accommodation, as we are not subcontracted with any property. At Deep Morocco Tours we always aim to book each client at the most suitable property depending on your style, interest and budget.

Well-established; We are in our 12th year specialising in tailor made holidays and private tours of Morocco. Over the years we have worked with thousands of very happy customers, many of whom return time and time again. True customisation: we are firm believers in bespoke travel. We put you at the heart of the trip planning process. We listen, get to know you, and then design an amazing trip that’s utterly original and personal. With you every step of your journey; we are a local tour operator that designs and executes your travel plans. Unlike other tour operators we do not delegate to third parties to deliver what we have planned. Responsible tour operator: We believe in offering authentic experiences of Moroccan life, while respecting and promoting local culture and the environment. We support local charities to bring about positive change to impoverished communities.

All our tours are private and tailor made. Every itinerary we design is built from scratch to suit your personal needs and interests. You can start your adventure on any day of the year and for any number of days you want, indeed you can start from anywhere in Morocco. Send us your enquiry and tell us what you would like to do in Morocco, how long you want to travel for, as well as your personal interests and any specific requirements. We’ll then put together your proposed travel itinerary that matches your requests. We will continue to discuss your plans with you, and once we have come to an agreement, you will receive your finalised travel itinerary. After your approval, you will be required to send us a deposit to secure your reservation.

Prices vary from one tour to another since all our tours are tailor made and private. These are the key elements that can affect the cost of your tour: the length of your trip, the season, the accommodation and experiences you want us to weave into your travel itinerary. We always aim to design an itinerary to meet your specific needs and investment.

Credit cards are accepted at large stores, high-end establishments, hotels, and restaurants, whereas cash is required in small shops and Souks. So be prepared and make sure you have enough cash on you while traveling.

The short answer is no. The Moroccan Dirham is a closed currency, which means it would not be easy to find elsewhere outside Morocco. If an exchange facility somehow manages to obtain dirham, you’ll pay dearly for it. Therefore, it’s better to wait until you get to Morocco and let us get you to a recommended point of exchange or an ATM. ATMs are widely available throughout Morocco and tend to have very good exchange rates. Even when paying a fee from your own bank for an overseas withdrawal plus ATM provider fees, it is may well be more cost effective to use an ATM than to exchange money.

All the exchange points and banks accept USD, Euro and GBP, whereas Australian and New Zealand dollars are not accepted for exchange in Morocco. Therefore, if you are bringing cash for exchanging, remember that you will need to bring USD, EUR, or GBP.

Tipping is customary in Morocco and always appreciated. Visitors as well as locals will generally tip for good service. It’s up to you if and how much you tip. Tipping 10-15% is standard. If someone guides you back to your accommodation or perhaps to a restaurant you are looking for, they may expect a tip and you can offer them 10-30 Dirhams.
